My name is Ammii Aguilar, I’m 21 years old and I’m from Bogotá, Colombia. I live with my mom, Mariela, and my sister, Alejandra. We have a strong and loving relationship, and we support each other every day. I’m also the youngest of five siblings, and I come from a big and close-knit family. If I count my uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and my grandmother, we’re around 30 people! I grew up surrounded by different generations — children, teenagers, and adults — and over time, the little ones just kept coming. That environment taught me the value of respect, patience, and affection in everyday life.
I’ve always felt a natural connection with children. I truly believe we should all stay in touch with our inner child — there’s something beautiful in the way kids see the world: their joy in simple things, their pure sense of friendship, and their way of forgiving and moving on so easily. Maybe that’s why I feel so comfortable in their world. I enjoy listening to them, learning from them, and being a part of their growth.
My love for children became even stronger during high school, when I took part in a community service program in grades 10 and 11. I supported first and second graders with their learning activities, emotions, daily routines, and playtime. That experience helped me understand that children don’t just need care — they need someone who really listens and connects with them. During that time, I met Lady Paredes, the mother of a close friend, who became my mentor and has guided me for nearly seven years. Thanks to her support, I discovered that working with children is not only something I enjoy — it’s something I’m truly passionate about.
Since then, I’ve continued working as a babysitter, helping children with their routines, play, emotional needs, and more. I’m also a confident and responsible driver, used to handling daily schedules and adapting to each family’s rhythm.
What makes me different as a caregiver is that I don’t focus on being perfect. I focus on being real, present, and kind. I see every child as a complete person with big emotions, ideas, and needs. I always try to create calm and joyful spaces where they can feel safe, heard, and free to be themselves.
I have a B1 level of English and I’m constantly working to improve it through reading, conversation, and learning. I love discovering new things and growing as a person.I’d like to study either a degree in languages or Traditional Chinese Medicine. I’m still choosing the exact path. In my daily life, I’m calm, joyful, and committed. I enjoy going to the gym, reading, cooking, organizing, listening to music, and helping at home. I prepare simple meals, keep things tidy.
What excites me most about being an Au Pair is the chance to join a new family, to be part of your daily life, and to offer everything I am with love and respect. I see this experience as a big opportunity to grow, to support others, and to build memories that we’ll all keep forever.
