Dear Future Host Family,

Hello! My name is Joana, I'm 26 years old, and I'm from the Philippines. I'm excited about the opportunity to become an au pair and hopefully find a warm and welcoming family with whom I can share meaningful experiences, learn new things, and create wonderful memories.

I graduated with a Bachelor of Technical-Vocational Teacher Education (BTVTEd), major in Food Service Management (FSM), and I am a Licensed Professional Teacher (LPT).

MY EXPERIENCE WITH CHILDREN

I currently work as an ESL teacher and have more than two years of experience teaching children and learners of different ages and nationalities, both online and offline. This experience has helped me develop patience, adaptability, and communication skills while working with students from different cultural backgrounds.

I also have two years of previous teaching experience in a SPED school, where I worked with children in inclusive classroom settings, including regular and mainstream SPED students, mostly at the elementary and high school levels.

My responsibilities included assisting children with their daily needs, such as changing clothes, bathroom routines, personal hygiene, and keeping their spaces clean and organized, especially after meals. I also had opportunities to assist Kindergarten and pure SPED classes during school activities and events whenever additional help was needed.

Aside from teaching, I have tutoring experience both inside and outside school, helping children with homework, lessons, and learning activities.

These experiences have taught me that every child has different needs, personalities, and ways of learning. I believe children need patience, understanding, encouragement, and a safe environment where they feel comfortable and supported.

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I'm naturally an introverted person, so I may be a little shy at first. However, once I feel comfortable, I enjoy meaningful conversations and spending quality time with others. I'm more of a listener and appreciate simple moments and genuine connections.

I consider myself patient, caring, responsible, and understanding. I respect different personalities, routines, boundaries, and family values.

HOUSEHOLD SKILLS AND HOBBIES

Being the eldest in my family has made me familiar with household responsibilities. I can do basic household chores, keep spaces clean and organized, and prepare simple meals. I know how to cook Filipino dishes and would love to introduce some of our local food to your family.

Since I graduated with a degree in Food Service Management, cooking and food preparation are also interests of mine. I especially love baking and would enjoy learning new recipes and exploring dishes from other cultures.

During my free time, I enjoy playing the guitar and ukulele, baking, spending time with my friends and family, and playing with my nine cats. I'm definitely an animal lover!

WHY I WANT TO BECOME AN AU PAIR

I want to become an au pair because I would love to experience life in another country, discover a different culture, learn a new language, and meet people from different backgrounds.

More than just traveling, I see this opportunity as a chance for personal growth. I want to become more independent, step outside my comfort zone, and experience things I may not encounter back home.

I would also love to share my Filipino culture, traditions, food, and language with your family while learning about yours in return.

Most importantly, I hope to build a genuine and respectful relationship with my future host family and become someone your children can feel comfortable with, trust, learn from, and have fun with.

Although I am a first-time au pair applicant, I already have experience working with children and understand that caring for them requires patience, responsibility, flexibility, and genuine concern for their well-being. I am willing to learn, adapt, and embrace this new journey with an open heart.
